About Us

Local 266 of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is the exclusive bargaining agent for all fire fighters and Captains within the Mansfield Fire Department. The City of Mansfield has deployed a completely paid department since 1884. The local was chartered with the IAFF in 1925, and became a member of the Ohio Association of Professional Fire Fighters (OAPFF) in 1958. The local is officially named the Frank R. Stahl, Mansfield Fire Fighters. Its namesake was a founding union leader and an original signer of the charter. The union was renamed in honor of Frank Stahl after he died on duty at a structure fire in 1944. Today, members of Local 266 staff the 5 fire stations located throughout the city. Mansfield fire fighters respond to over 8,000 emergencies each year, providing professional fire and EMS services. With over 125 years of experience and history, Mansfield’s professional fire fighters carry on a proud and honored tradition of service to our community.
